Parts making with different packages
Though the symbol to use with the schematic is the same, the package to use with the board is sometimes different. For example, in case of the resistor, there is more than one piece of package data according to the interval of the lead wire even if the symbol is the same. When mounting a small resistor vertically, 0.1 inches are used for the interval of the pad. When mounting a 1/8-W resistor onto the printed board horizontally, 0.3 inches are used for the interval of the pad. In case of the resistor with big wattage, in the interval of the pad, it is more separated. The device data can be made every kind. However, there is a way of registering more than one piece of package data on one device data.
It is possible to do this by specifying "Variant" in package data registration of the creating device data. Hereinafter, I will explain in the case of the non-polar capacitor library.

Preparation of the package data
The necessary-type package data should be made beforehand.

Pin interval : 0.1 inches
(C-0.1.pac)

Pin interval : 0.2 inches
(C-0.2.pac)

Pin interval : 0.3 inches
(C-0.3.pac)

Preparation of the symbol data
As for the symbol data, only 1 type is used.

Creating of device data

It pushes Device icon and it registers a new device. This time, I used "cap-".



It pushes Add icon and it registers a symbol on the symbol window. This time, I selected "CAP-NP".




It pushes New icon and it registers a package. It selects package data from Packages list and it puts the identification of the package to the "Variant name". This time, I typed "0.1". This value can not overlap in the device. This value is put at the end of device name.




After connecting a pin and a pad, it pushes New icon again and it registers the next package data. The one to have registered on "Variant name" can not be used.






The data which was registered with "Variant" is displayed in the part selecting dialog of the schematic making.
