Two methods for harvesting RF energy are compared and results given for a metropolitan area (Seattle). The Seiko S-882Z chip greatly simplifies design and improves performance. It also powers on and off the load cleanly.

The cost function for SVM is similar to that for <a href="LogisticRegression.htm">Logistic Regression</a>. Instead of using lambda to scale the weight of the theta parameters, we use "C" to scale the weight of the main part of the cost function. So, where a large lambda would penalize parameters, now a small C does the same; leaving the parameters large while the rest of the function becomes small.

http://techref.massmind.org/Techref/method/ai/SupportVectorMachine.htm#42231.9810648148
James Newton[JMN-EFP-786] Says

Instead of using the sigmoid function, we replace that with two separate cost functions, cost0 and cost1. They produce a graph very much like the sigmoid, but with straight lines instead of a curve.
<P>
Because we don't need to worry about derivatives in the same way, we can remove the division by m. Since m is a constant, the cost function will still help us converge on the same minimum.

You can buy individual solar cells (not panels, the cells the panels are made of) at very low costs from china, e.g.<BR>
<a href="http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/high-efficiency-156mmx156mm-6-2BB-3BB_1095430687.html">http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/high-efficiency-156mmx156mm-6-2BB-3BB_1095430687.html</a>
<P>
Soldering entire cells together and mounting them is the labor part. But small panels use /part/ of many cells to get to a usable voltage with less surface area (and less current) and so you ALSO have to break the cell apart, and do more soldering.
