Questions:
I am printing code 39 bar codes using DIMM slots on HP printers.
The command I am using is - esc_"(0Y"_esc_"(s0p8.11h12v0s0b0T" where "_" concatinates strings. This command is followed by "*"_"Variable Text"_"*"
I need to reduce the length of the bar code. Basically I need to play with the width, length. But in the worst case, if I can change reduce the width, it is ok.
I tried to change pitch (8.11) and point (12), but it doesn't seem to solve the purpose.
Could you please help me?
Any suggestions?
James Newton replies: You will have to find or purchase a 3of9 barcode font with a finer pitch. They are NOT scalable, but rather come in specific sizes.+
I am using ImageMagick to convert a grayscale jpg to a monochrome .pcl and priniting it on a hp4050. The image is always b&w never grayscale. Is there anyway to print this in grayscale?
James Newton replies: Read up on "dithering"
James Griffin of INformation Marketing Group replies: pcl dithering or imagemagick? Using the the -dither on imagemagick I saw no change in the output still just b&w. James Newton replies: There is no dithering in PCL; it expects the images to be dithered already. There must be something wrong on the imagemagic side.+
Please help me. I have just put together the Pocket Programmer. It communicates with the PC downloading the chipdata.txt file but then the PP gets the error message EEPROM ERROR and stops communicating with the PC (Serial link timeout). The PP also gets this message when it is in a stand alone (not connected to PC) condition. I have started to examine TPOCKET.ASM but I need some kind of direction as to what the problem is. Thanks. Alvin.....
James Newton replies: I would guess tha the EEPROM is not working correctly. Check the connections (resolder, etc...) and possibly replace the chip?+
I am running a program in clipper (Compiled dbase) and using a Xerox P12 printer. Is there a pcl code to print from the Manual Feed Printer and when completed, reset to the regular parer tray
James Newton replies: Yes, but it is different on different printers. What model are you useing?+
I have a question about the printing process. I would like to know what is the role of print driver and print spooler when a document is printed? Also, whoes responsibility is it to convert the document to PCL format when it is sent to a HP printer? Does the application create the PCL format or does the driver? Lastly, if the driver converts it to a PCL format, how do I make the driver to save the PCL format file to a folder? Thanks
James Newton replies: The application generates GDI calls to the operating system which are then sent to the driver. It is the driver that converts them to PCL. Any driver can create a file by setting the port to FILE.+
